Impressions about plant
Reminder the Aerogarden seed was planted on 7/27. I suck at remembering to take photos of my plants each day/week/period so I have to rebuild the timeline based on actual dates of the pictures I did take. The attached pictures were taken on 8/25.
My impression at this point is that I'm highly impressed with this White Widow. I read that you really shouldn't mess too much with autoflower plants with regard to topping and heavy pruning because the flowering stage is going to start regardless of whether it's busy recovering from trauma and the flowers would be happier if all the plant's attention was focused on them. But I did a lot of experimenting and I did do some light branch pruning and I was aggressive in trimming leaves during these weeks and I did attempt some low stress training exercises which I also practiced with on some other plants sharing space in the tent--those Curaleaf seeds I found in medical flowers 6-12 months ago. That'll have to be another diary. Hopefully one with fewer run-on sentences.
These 2 plants in the Aerogarden are consuming way more than their weight in nutrient water. They're up to between 3 and 4 gallons a week at this point. It's a 2 gallon reservoir (in which the roots live) and I change it out on Wednesdays. I am astonished that by Saturday I'm getting notifications of low water. But when it says it's low it really means it's down to just under 1.4 gallons. The way I figured it, the vast majority of roots are on the floor of the reservoir so if it's a little low that shouldn't be so bad, right? Anyways, I stopped freaking out about low water and every couple of days I poured in more to top it off.
The White Widow took my input and training and pruning and said "Bring it on, motherfucker" and it blossomed leaves and branches like there was no tomorrow. I setup the Aerogarden trellis and used it to separate branches and spread them apart and you know how she responded? She grew thick and strong and formed many more new branches. No sign of any sexual organs yet it's just in explosive growth mode.
I didn't see as much strength in the Deelite. She's a different strain and in the future I think I would only grow same seed plants in a single Aerogarden. But she's still there and growing and nothing's started flowering yet in either plant. Deelite is just so finicky and gets discolored so easily she never really seems happy.
I continue to struggle with temperature and humidity in the tent. I got a fan to blow fresh air in through the bottom flap in the tent and I know that the airflow is not optimal. I haven't been able to get it right and I think the height of the tent has something to do with it. Oh yeah...there's also 2 lights in there. The Aerogarden light plus another light on the other side of the tent which is a 200w LED so yeah. It's hot. So the leaves seem to have a constant tinge of brown.
And then we took a trip for a few days and left all the girls unattended. Saw RHCP down in Miami it was epic. Cue suspenseful music...
