Impressions about plant
This is really week 1 the date planted was 7/26.
The fact is I haven't found a whole lot of good information about how to grow in an aerogarden or other almost completely completely water based medium. There's a whole lot of general info and a whole lot of trial and error on my part.
Now I'm in week 9.
I'm following the general instructions and specific feeding courtesy largely of aeroweed.info. I combine info and techniques from many sources in order to drive my own actions, sometimes absurd ones and sometimes really successful ones. I usually learn something from all of it. But the feeding schedule in particular is something I've followed from this website since day 1.
I started off with two plants in the Aerogarden. White Widow and Deelite, both autoflowers.
My thoughts during week 1 were that I was pleased that the seeds live and appear to be happy. The Deelite seedling took to the coco starter pod quickly and the taproot broke through creating a strong bond between the seed and the pod. The WW seedling kept twisting and turning over the first few days without attaching and then I took it back out and cut the pod open to help ensure that the plant was securely yet comfortably in place. After that it seemed happy.
I also recall thinking about the Aerogarden and how I thought using the Farm XL version would be complete overkill since I had to fill it with two gallons of nute water and it seemed like it would be a waste of a lot of water especially since I was only growing two plants in a device built to grow up to 12. But I knew it was good advice to give them each lots of space. I also thought that I could buck the advice to get an airstone pump in the reservoir to help aerate the roots so I didn't get one. It seemed like overkill.
