Due to all the posts I have read about the dangers of overwatering, I had actually been severely under watering the plants. I have a gravity fed drip irrigation bag system that seems to work well and I add the liquid fertilizer to about 10-12 ounces of water/plant every other day. That seems to be just enough to soak through and run out into the drip tray some and the plants seem to be growing much faster and happy with good coloration.
