Skunk #1, since its debut some four decades ago, has since redefined the cannabis landscape. Still, this iconic hybrid could use some improvements. Hence, crossing it with Early Pearl resulted in a variety that has a faster flowering period and enhanced mold resistance. Dubbed Early Skunk, it retains the same traits - energetic, creative buzz - that catapulted the lineage to the upper echelons of elite cultivars.
Rosetta Stone, on the other hand, is arguably one of the top production cultivars. Like Early Skunk, it has a quick flowering time. Moreover, it can produce dense, highly resinous buds.
In crossing these two hybrids, the goal was not only to preserve the traits of Skunk but also to increase its yield further. Homegrown Cannabis Co. takes this progeny to another level by adding Ruderalis genes. Instead of offering it as an auto-flowering cultivar, the seed bank provides it as fast version seeds. Its benefit becomes evident once the flowering stage begins, in which the buds develop fully in only six weeks.
Note: Rosetta Skunk Fast Version is not an auto. Hence, it remains dependent on light cycles to transition from vegetative to flowering period.
Growing Rosetta Skunk exhibits many advantageous horticultural properties. It has a small stature making it ideal for indoor cultivation. Moreover, this bushy plant is hardy and has excellent resistance to pests and moisture-related diseases, including molds. Having Early Skunk genetics also ensures that it thrives well in the outdoors.
Generally, this is an easy-to-grow cultivar that even beginners could try. It is not at all finicky nor entails advanced techniques or expertise in feeding and maintenance.
During the vegetative period, it could use 18 hours of light illumination daily. As the branches develop, the foliage could use some form of pruning and trimming. Not only does it help improve the circulation of air, but it also diverts the focus on the plants from the lower parts to the upper canopy. It could be set up to grow under the “Sea of Green” training method to increase the yields.
Once the plants are ready, switching to 12/12 light schedule triggers the flowering stage. After only six weeks, its production could be as high as 500 grams per square meter.
In the outdoors, the exposure to sunlight coaxes the most out of this cultivar. Although it could tolerate a somewhat cold climate, its full potential is attainable only where there is plenty of sunshine such as in a sunny location. As early as the last week of September, it is possible to harvest up to 550 grams per plant.
Rosetta Skunk has a pronounced, earthy odour with hints of wood. This delightful fragrance carries over to taste with a sweet, piney note during the exhale.
Homegrown Cannabis Co. has worked on developing the fast version of Rosetta Skunk to have high potency. Its effects are indeed long-lasting. An excessive intake, though, raises the intensity of the psychoactive traits. Consequently, some individuals might feel anxious on top of the usual dry eyes and cottonmouth.
When consumed in small to moderate dosage, its full benefits could be realized starting with a reinvigorating cerebral buzz. The energetic high not only helps clear the cobwebs in the head but also motivates one to engage in physical tasks. It also helps that this cultivar inspires creativity, which could be helpful in projects requiring new ideas.
The mental stimulation is then followed by a calming, soothing sensation swarming into the body. It releases tensions and tightness in the muscles, Rosetta Skunk ushers in the sense of happiness. Its intensity also raises, thus the relaxation induced soon gives way to laziness. At a high dosage, it could be overwhelming, locking one to the couch, and eventually leaving one asleep.
Rosetta Skunk is an all-around cultivar. It could be used recreationally as an end-of-day treat that helps casual consumers relax after a stressful day or as a primer for a chill night out with like-minded friends. Patients, on the other hand, could take advantage of it as an alternative to synthetic drugs.
Early Skunk takes the fan-favourite Skunk #1 and enhances it by further reducing its already short flowering period. Rosetta Stone, on the other hand, is also a fast-finishing, robust plant. Add Ruderalis and its flowering time is reduced further to only six weeks. The two come together to create an Indica-leaning cultivar that completes its growth cycle just as quickly. In this way, growers could have access to Rosetta Skunk’s beneficial buds without having to wait for more than a few months.
A fast version of Rosetta Skunk’s seeds is available for sale at Homegrown Cannabis Co. Apart from flowering early, it comes in feminized form too, thereby eliminating the chances of male plants showing up. During harvest, these females could produce a stash that lasts a long time.
